Robert Turnbull (January 11, 1850 – January 22, 1920) was a U.S. Representative from Virginia. ==Biography== Born in Lawrenceville, Virginia, Turnbull attended Rock Spring Academy, and was graduated from the law department of the University of Virginia at Charlottesville in 1871. He was admitted to the bar in 1871 and commenced practice in Lawrenceville, Virginia. He served as clerk of Brunswick County in 1891–1910. He served as member of the Senate of Virginia in 1894–1898. He served as delegate to the State constitutional convention in 1901. He served as delegate to the Democratic National Conventions in 1896 and 1904. Turnbull was elected as a Democrat to the Sixty-first Congress to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Francis R. Lassiter. He was reelected to the Sixty-second Congress and served from March 8, 1910, to March 3, 1913. He was an unsuccessful candidate for renomination in 1912. He resumed the practice of law in Lawrenceville. He served as clerk of the circuit court of Brunswick County from 1916 until his death, January 22, 1920.
